He’s a soldier far from home
Having to go where soldiers roam
He misses his lady so far away
And wishes he didn’t have to stay

He remembers the sight of her long blond hair
And the soft feel of her skin so fair

Closing his eyes
He sees her face
She touches him
Then they embrace

At the end of a long day
Knowing he’s so faraway
Under the twinkling stars above
He writes to tell her of his love

In the stillness he thinks of the last night he saw her
She held him so tight now it all seems like blur

Then in his dream
She’s everywhere
He reaches out
Then she’s not there

In the early morning light
Thinking of his dream that night
Wondering what she’s doing that day
Knowing their love is there to stay

He imagines the joy of being held in her arms
Then the thrill of feeling all of the warmth of her charms

It won’t be long
“til his time is served
All he wants
Is to be with her

When he gets home to stay
They’re going to have their wedding day
They can have time to start their life
